2010 YEAR END AWARDS PROGRAM RULES  

GENERAL RULES

 To Submit Points: The DIVISION you are submitting points for must be written on the TOP of the submission form.  You can submit points for multiple divisions but you must submit points for each individual division you are eligible for.

  1. Owner of the horse must be a current member of NEFHC and in good standing.
  1. If the year-end award is being judged by the rider (ex: Jr. Exhibitor, Lead Line) then the rider must be a full member or associate member of NEFHC and in good standing.
  1. Points will start to accrue when the membership application and dues are received.
  1. The Friesian horse must be Dutch Registered. FPS/FHANA.
  1. To be eligible for year-end awards your points must be from a USEF, USDF, ADS (American Driving Society), NEHC (New England Horseman’s Council) or other state “rated” show.
  1. Points are based on horse regardless of the rider except for Jr. Exhibitor and Lead Line.  If there is a change in ownership during the year, any qualifying points will be retained with the horse provided the new owner has a current membership.  A lessee will be considered as the owner of a leased horse for the purposes of year end awards providing a copy of the lease agreement is provided to the NEFHC point secretary with the submission of year end points.
  1. To be eligible for the Dressage year-end awards the points must be from a USDF/USEF affiliated show or other state “rated” show.
  1. To be eligible for NEFHC Horse of the Year award, horse must have competed in the Model Division, Friesian Pleasure and/or Friesian Driving Divisions, and the Open Pleasure Division.  HOY will be awarded to the horse with the most combined points accumulated in these divisions. This award is perpetual; there will be no member ownership of the award.  The NEFHC HOY award is owned by the club.  These rules can never be changed so as to retain the integrity of the award.
  1. The Trail Division:  Riders in this division are not competing against other riders; they are accumulating miles over a period of years and must be a NEFHC member at the time each mile is being accrued.  This division is based solely on the honor system and the miles need not be accumulated at a sanctioned event.  Achievement awards will be given to each horse/rider combination that accumulates miles in the following increments:

50 miles                        100 miles                        250 miles

500 miles                      750 miles                      1000 miles

Any horse/rider combination that reaches one of these achievement levels during the year will receive their award at the Annual General Meeting or Awards Banquet.  If you use a different mount each time on a trail ride then you must keep track of miles per each horse that you ride.

  1. Points must be submitted to the point secretary by November 15, 2010.  Point submission forms are available on the website menu option Year End Awards Program.  Points must be submitted via the NEFHC points form to be counted.  Please submit separate forms for each division you are entering to:

  1. The point secretary reserves the right to add, delete or combine division awards as results warrant.  Champion and Reserve ribbons will be presented in all divisions as entries warrant.  The awards committee/point secretary reserves the right to eliminate from competition anyone who knowingly or falsely submits improper results, reduce points if class entered is not from a rated show or class does not qualify for submitted division.

NEFHC Year End Point System 

  • Points will start from January 1, through November 15 of the current year.  Points will start to accrue when membership is received. 
  • 1st place receives 7 points, 2nd place 5 points, 3rd place 4 points, 4th place 3 points, 5th place 2 points, and 6th place 1 point.
  • Champion Classes will be doubled: Champion 14 points, Reserve Champion 10 points, 3rd place 8 points, 4th place 6 points, 5th place 4 points and 6th place 2 points.
  • NEFHC Classic Horse Show and IFSHA Grand National points will be doubled.

Year End Awards Guidelines

Model 2 and under, Model 3 and 4 years old, Model 5 and Over

All in hand type classes count for this award.  The class must be judged on the horse.  Examples of this are:  Friesian in Hand, English Horse in Hand, Western Horse in Hand, Sport Horse in Hand, Horse Colts and Fillies and Liberty.

Lead-line

The intent of this division is to reward our youngest members riding Friesians in the Lead-line division of any rated show.  Points from Lead-line equitation, Lead-line Pleasure or Lead-line Suitability are eligible if the points are gained riding a Friesian.

Points are awarded to the child regardless of what Friesian is being ridden.  Child must be included in a family membership or an associate member. 

Walk Trot Division

The intent of this division is to award those beginners, either Jr. or adult competing in the show ring.   Competitor must not have cantered at any rated show.  If the competitor advances to the canter divisions during the year all Walk Trot points accumulated prior to the advancement will count.  Some examples of classes that are eligible for this award are Friesian Walk Trot, Walk Trot Equitation (any age), Walk Trot Pleasure (any age), Green Rider Walk Trot, Green Horse Walk Trot, Any class that no canter is required (except Costume, Trail, fun/game classes).

Jr. Exhibitor

This division is judged on the rider. The criteria for this division are any under saddle (walk, trot, and canter) class ridden by a Jr. Exhibitor is eligible.  If the horse is not owned by the rider then the rider must be an associate member of the club for their points to be counted.  Some examples are Jr. Exhibitor Hack, Any Friesian breed class (Walk, Trot, Canter), Any open riding class (Walk, Trot, Canter), Any equitation class (Walk, Trot, Canter).

Friesian Pleasure

All Friesian pleasure under saddle breed classes are eligible for this award.  They are Friesian Pleasure, Friesian English Pleasure, Friesian Western Pleasure, Friesian Hunt Seat Pleasure and Friesian Country English Pleasure.

Road Hack       

Any Road Hack class from a rated show will be eligible for this division.

Driving

All driving classes are eligible for this award.  (Some examples are:  Single, pair, 4 in hand, etc.)  If it is warranted, there will be a separate award for sleigh driving and CDE (Combined Driving Event) competitions.  The competitions must be rated and placed.  A pair or 4 in hand must be the same combination of horses for each set of points submitted.  Some of the eligible classes for this division would be Friesian Driving (any driving class with Friesian in the class name), Open Driving (any driving class with Open in the class name), Pleasure Driving (any driving class with Pleasure in the name), Concourse de Elegance, Sleigh and CDE.

Friesian Costume

Any costume class from a rated show will count for this division.

Open Pleasure

The intent of this division is to get the magnificent Friesian horse showing in the Open divisions against other breeds.  The class must have been judged on the horse.  Classes eligible for the division will have Open and Pleasure in the class name and all breeds must be eligible.  (Ladies Pleasure and Gentleman’s Pleasure are not eligible).  NHH&TA (New Hampshire Horse and Trail Association) and NEHC (New England Horseman’s Council) and MHC (Mass Horsemen’s Council) Pleasure classes are eligible.  Some examples would include NHHTA Pleasure, NEHC Pleasure, MHC Pleasure, Open English Pleasure, Open Western Pleasure and Open Hunter Pleasure.

Open Amateur/Handler

Points count for in hand, riding, driving, & costume classes as long as you are an amateur.  Points submitted must be for the same horse and rider/handler combination.

Dressage Suitability (Must have shown at 3 shows)

Any Dressage Suitability class from a rated show will be eligible for this division.  Friesian Dressage Suitability, Open Dressage Suitability or Sport Horse dressage suitability are among eligible class titles.  These classes are pointed the same as classes above.

Dressage Hack (Must have shown at 3 shows)

Any Dressage Hack class from a state rated show will be eligible for this division. These classes are pointed the same as classes above.

Dressage Tests

Points will count from a rated USDF/USEF rated show and NEFHC Classic Horse show.  Points will be counted for Intro, Training, First, Second, Third and Fourth Level tests. The winner will be determined by the best average point score.  You must have successfully competed in at least two tests for each division and judged by two different judges during the season to be eligible.  (Example: 2 tests Scores 64. and 61.5 combined, divided by number of tests equals the average score of 62.75.).
